Stormflower Vineyard

Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Museum Release

Original tasting notes: A classic Wilyabrup Cabernet with highly scented aromas of blueberries, cassis and bay leaf. Rich generous flavours reflect the fruit characters of the nose and new French oak adds subtle spicy nutty elements that complement the fine grained tannins. This is a wine of great flavour and structure with bright juicy fruit, integrated dusty oak, and a subtle underlying earthy note which adds complexity.

Museum tasting notes: Soft rich nose showing plenty of fruit. Palate has fine young tannins with characteristics of mulberry and umami. Beautiful structure lends itself to further aging if desired.

Vineyard Notes
Rainfall for 2012 was below average in the South West, with maximum temperatures well above average. Late November 2012 brought a series of strong cold fronts and strong winds. Unfortunately this coincided with flowering of most grape varieties, and as a result yields were significantly impacted throughout the region. A hot Summer accelerated ripening of white varietals, however the weather turned cold in March delaying the ripening of red varietals. This resulted in an extended vintage spanning from February to April 2013.
